Multnomah Elementary school will effectively educate all students to reach their potential as learners. 

Vision

Multnomah Elementary School is a safe and nurturing environment in which teachers, students, and parents work together to develop academic excellence, responsible citizens, and lifelong learners.

	Common Core State Standards The Common Core State Standards are a set of core understandings we want our students to have in order to be prepared for college and their careers ahead.
	Reading and Writing Workshop Teachers College Reading and Writing Project aim to prepare students for any reading and writing task they will face and to turn kids into life-long, confident readers and writers who display agency and independence.
	Cognitive Guided Instruction CGI is a student-centered approach to teaching math. It starts with what students already know and builds on their natural number sense and intuitive approaches to problem solving.
	Next Generation Science Standards Within the NGSS, there are three distinct dimensions to learning science. These dimensions are combined to form each performance expectation. Each dimension works with the other to help build cohesive understanding of science over time.
	EnrichLA This weekly Garden Ranger program provides interactive and interdisciplinary garden lessons that cheer up school campuses, promote healthy eating, encourage environmental stewardship, and engage students in experiential learning.
	Tier II Intervention Intervention at Multnomah Elementary focuses on providing a higher and more focused level of support for students at risk of not meeting grade level standards. Students in need of “a second scoop” of instruction work in a small group setting under the instruction of a highly qualified paraprofessional and intervention. coach everyday (except Tuesday) for 20 minutes. Every two weeks, students’ progress is monitored. After six weeks, students who have made adequate progress no longer attend intervention and students who do not make adequate progress continue to receive intervention for another six weeks.
