Parent Handbook 2023-2024

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! In order for this year to be a success, it will involve open communication and an equal partnership on the part of home and school.  Working together as a team, we will continue to provide every child with the best academic and social-emotional opportunities.  All students will leave our school as critical and creative thinkers who are compassionate and confident, equipped with the skills and abilities to compete globally.

Since children are influenced by both home and school environment, it is vitally important that there be consistency between these two important entities (home and school).  Your support and cooperation is needed so that children fully understand the importance of school, homework, self-respect, discipline, and self-control as these are related to the learning process.

Our focus will be on providing each child with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience.  Academic emphasis in the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, English Language Development and Math will remain a priority as well as providing a learning program that builds upon each year to reach state standards.

Upon the first week of school, all students will be given the hard copy of this handbook.  This handbook contains information that will help you support your child throughout the school year.  Please read it carefully and keep it for reference during the school year.   For your ease of navigation, the online version is separated by pages to your left for quick links.

In addition to this handbook, you are receiving the District Parent Student Handbook.  These documents are to inform you of your rights and responsibilities under California Education Code 51101.  Please read, sign, and return all required forms.

I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) during this school year.  We have many exciting lessons, projects and activities planned.  If at any time you have any questions regarding your child(ren)’s education and/or progress, please do not hesitate to call the school at (323) 225-6005 to make an appointment with the teacher and/or principal.

In Partnership,

Tiffany Melgar

Principal
