    2018-2019 Closing Letter

    Dear Multnomah Families,

Congratulations on completing a successful 2018-2019 school year! On behalf of the staff, we appreciate your support in working closely and in tandem with us to build well-rounded citizens, independent thinkers, and creative scholars.

Just in this year alone, our students attended the following field trips to expand their learning outside of the classroom walls and engage in hands-on extracurricular experiences:

    • Ascot Hills
    • La Plaza de la Cultura
    • Getty Museum
    • Eaton Canyon
    • MOCA
    • King Gillette Ranch
    • Santa Monica Pier Aquarium
    • Los Angeles Zoo
    • Camp E.L.K.
    • Natural History Museum
    • Yosemite
    • Kidspace Museum
    • Aquarium of the Pacific
    • Cabrillo Beach
    • Dockweiler Beach
    • East LA Courthouse
    • Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
    • Ballona Wetlands
    • Grammy Museum
    • Kenneth Hanh State Park

At school we engaged in standards-based instruction and challenged our students to challenge themselves.  We worked hard to provide individualized and personalized learning for our students.   The following are only a few of our accomplishments:

    • School-wide assessment and monitoring of foundational skills acquisition and levels of comprehension
    • Differentiated instruction via academy time
    • Arts: Music, Universal Dance, and Hip Hop Dancing
    • EnrichLA: Outdoor Learning
    • Project LEAD
    • Enrichment: Mommy and Me Dance and Dance Team
    • Dot and Dash Coding
    • Cognitive Guided Instruction in Math
    • Readers and Writers Workshop
    • Technology Imbedded Curriculum

While students will return to school on August 20th for the 2019-2020 school year, during the summer vacation, here are some things your child can do to continue learning:  (I've created hyperlinks below for your ease of navigation.)

    1. Log on to Clever.Com to access level books for reading practice.  On the website, there are fiction and nonfiction books from levels A-Z.
    2. Visit this Symbaloo page. Save it as a bookmark. It links to over 50 web pages of extra practice in all content areas.
    3. Click our Student Resources tab for direct links to websites for fun games and extended learning.

    See you in August!
